The call of the wild in Madagascar’s rainforests

ANDASIBE-MANTADIA

Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, located in eastern Madagascar, is famous for its misty rainforests and the unique wildlife that inhabits them. The park is best known for being home to the largest lemur species, the Indri, whose haunting calls can be heard echoing through the trees. Visitors are drawn to Andasibe for its rich biodiversity, which includes a variety of lemur species, chameleons, birds, and rare plants. Andasibe is divided into two distinct sections: the small and accessible Analamazaotra Reserve, where visitors are almost guaranteed to spot Indris, and the larger, wilder Mantadia Reserve, which offers more challenging hikes and deeper immersion into the rainforest. Andasibe’s proximity to the capital makes it one of the most visited parks in Madagascar and a key destination for wildlife enthusiasts.
