FAQ’s

  • SATIBgo is available to all nationalities and countries of residence (subject to applicable immigration rules and sanctions).

  • We can safely say that not all travel assistance/insurance plans are up to speed with the specific risks associated with travel to Africa or the added exposures of post pandemic travel. SATIBgo was developed by Africa’s leading tourism risk provider and tailored for travellers in conjunction with specialist African operators and incident management teams.

  • Buy Up 1 is needed when the Total Trip Cost is in excess of the Gold Base Cover limit (USD10K / ZAR170K) for Trip Cancellation or Postponement and/or Trip Interruption or Extension following the defined triggers noted in the policy (see page 4 Section 3). We will reimburse the traveller up to 100% of the non-refundable, unused, pre-paid travel and accommodation expenses of the trip.

Buy Up 2 provides for Total Trip Cost described in Buy Up 1, but also provides broader reasons for cancellation. Should these broader reasons be triggered that are NOT defined in Buy Up 1, then we will reimburse 75% of the non-refundable, unused, portion of travel and accommodation expenses paid in advance of the proposed Insured Journey.

  • ONLY if BUY Up 2 (Cancelation For Any Reason - CFAR) is purchased. General policy exclusions will not apply to CFAR. The traveller simply provides an alternative reason for cancellation. The only limitation is that the individual (Insured Traveller) would need to cancel the trip for any reason that is perhaps sudden and unforeseen As an example, if a traveller receives an invitation to a once off event, the provider cannot cancel the trip and expect the insurance to cover the cost of the refund.

  • Yes, we expect a minimum of 250 travel days per annum to qualify and if not achieved the policy may not be renewed.

  • Our digital form automatically calculates premiums, but for interests’ sake the following applies:

Th Rate for GOLD is calculated pending on the number of days travel and then CFAR is added by applying the CFAR rate to the TOTAL TRIP COST.

    ➢ Age: 65 & under (6.273% of total cost)

    ➢ Age: 66 – 80 (11.129% of total cost)

EG 50year old / Trip of 10 days with Total Trip Cost of USD15K. Daily rate applied e.g., USD10 PLUS the CFAR rate applied to Total Trip Cost

    10 days = 10 x USD10 (USD100)

    PLUS, USD15k x 6.273% - USD940.95

    USD 100 + USD 940.95

    = USD1 040.95

  • Our portal spreadsheet automatically calculates premiums, but for interests’ sake the following applies:

Buy Up 1 - This is calculated by adding the rating provided to the Top Up portion of the Trip Cost i.e., if GOLD Base Cover is USD10 000 and the Trip costs USD25 000 then you apply the rating to
USD15 000 top up portion and add this to the base premium.

  • The “main” destination (i.e.: longest duration) must be used.

  • The reason we have separate policies is that the VAT treatment for travel within South Africa is 15% VAT and travel outside South Africa is 0% VAT.

In addition load the trip per below:

    1. WITHIN RSA – If South Africa is the main (longest) destination, please declare the entire trip under this policy and use South Africa as the destination (This could be foreigners traveling to SA or SA residents traveling within SA)

    2. OUTSIDE RSA – If South Africa is not the main destination, then please declare the entire trip under this policy and use the country that is the main destination (i.e.: Botswana, etc) (Foreigners, South Africans and potentially locals in that country)

  • Our system can accommodate changes to the items such as travel days, trip value, etc but the Category cannot be changed once submitted. If a change in category is required, you’ll need to cancel the original trip declaration and load a new declaration.
