Jamluti’s Journey
Hi, my name is Jamluti. It’s a Zulu praise name meaning Red Bull (not kidding), a nickname I earned for my red hair (when I had hair) and my fiery spirit. I grew up in a tiny rural town in northern KwaZulu-Natal, and by the age of five, I was fluent in Zulu. This skill deeply connected me to the local community, where I’m still known by my Zulu name rather than my English one.
My journey into tourism began beneath the waves of Sodwana Bay, one of the best dive sites on the planet. As a scuba instructor and boat skipper, I explored Africa’s underwater wonders. My adventures then took me to Turkey, where I managed a dive boat, before founding my own travel company in Germany in the early 2000s.
What started as a small idea grew into a flourishing business. Over the next 15 years, my team and I crafted bespoke travel experiences for over 5,000 people eager to explore the magic of Africa. My expertise didn’t stop there; I’ve climbed Mount Kilimanjaro three times, audited boutique hotels globally, and stayed in countless lodges across Africa, giving me a first-class understanding of global tourism standards.
During the challenging Covid years, when travel was at a standstill, my love for Africa never ceased. This pause led me to embark on the development of the Babanango Game Reserve, a project close to my heart. With a passion for conservation, I’ve played a pivotal role in securing funding for numerous conservation initiatives across the continent. My career, spanning decades and continents, reflects my deep connection to Africa, its people, and the extraordinary experiences it has to offer.
"I never knew of a morning in Africa when I woke up that I was not happy." — Ernest Hemingway
