Ancient rainforest, timeless beauty
NYUNGWE FOREST
Nyungwe Forest National Park, in the southwestern region of Rwanda, is one of Africa’s oldest rainforests and a biodiversity hotspot. The park is home to 13 species of primates, including chimpanzees and the acrobatic Ruwenzori colobus monkeys, which can be seen leaping through the trees in large groups. Nyungwe offers incredible hiking opportunities with its extensive network of trails, including the famous Canopy Walk, suspended 50 meters above the forest floor. The park also has over 300 species of birds, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. Nyungwe’s mist-shrouded mountains and deep valleys create a serene and magical environment for exploring Rwanda’s natural wonders.
