Nature’s grand amphitheater
NGORONGORO CRATER
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Tanzania’s most extraordinary natural wonders. Formed over two million years ago by a massive volcanic eruption, the crater is the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world, spanning 260 square kilometers. Today, it is a wildlife haven, boasting one of the densest concentrations of animals in Africa. The crater’s floor is a mosaic of grasslands, acacia forests, and swamps, home to an impressive variety of species, including lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeests, and the rare black rhino. Its dramatic scenery and abundant wildlife make the Ngorongoro Crater a must-see for any safari enthusiast, while its UNESCO World Heritage status highlights its global significance.
