One of the richest wildlife areas in Africa, the Elephant Coast encompasses iSimangaliso Wetland Park (a World Heritage Site), Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve (the oldest game park in Africa, and home to the Big Five), the Lebombo Mountains and Pongola Dam. With its coastal forests, rocky shores, coral reefs, mangrove swamps, woodlands, savanna grassland, and forests, lakes and wetlands, the area is home to phenomenal animal life and unique adventure experiences.

MUST DO ACTIVITIES:

  • See the Big Five in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve, and even do a multi-day walk in the wilderness amongst the animals
  • Watch endangered turtles lay eggs on the beaches of Cape Vidal
  • Scuba dive protected reefs off Sodwana Bay
  • Ride a horse on isolated beaches or through a game reserve
  • Take an estuary cruise at St Lucia for a close encounter with crocs and hippo.
